Most standby generator problems trace back to a handful of components — the battery, control board, transfer switch, or fuel supply — and a lot of failures show up first as a fault light rather than a total shutdown.
Generator repair covers diagnosing and fixing a unit that's failing to start, failing to transfer power correctly, running rough, or throwing an error code, as opposed to routine maintenance on a unit that's working fine.
A generator that repeatedly needs the same repair, or that's out of parts availability, is usually a signal to consider replacement instead of continuing to repair it.
